Bio

Music has been a big part of my life since I was very young. In school I played various instruments like trombone and saxophone but when I discovered the guitar at age 12, I knew it was the beginning of a long relationship!

In the late '70s I found myself, quite by chance, entering into the woodworking profession. Seeing this as my opportunity to learn to build a guitar, I began my journey. All I had to go on was an early Irving Sloane book on steel-string guitar construction, some rudimentary woodworking skills and my sheer determination. Just as things got tough, good fortune directed me to a local class on guitar building that was overseen by world-class luthier Bob Mattingly. This opened up the world of lutherie to me and I completed my first steel string guitar in 1981.

I was hooked! Several instruments followed, both electric and acoustic as I expanded my repertoire and skills. Life changes and family intervened and I took a hiatus from building until the mid '90s when I began again. Today you will find me doing repair work, set ups, and electronics work on guitars and basses as well as custom instruments built to order. Just let me know what I can do for you. I encourage your questions and input!
